Minnesota Zoo

The Minnesota Zoo in Apple Valley, MN, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the state. Here, you'll have access to their six magnificent themed areas, including three walking trails ranging from one to two miles in distance. When you're here, you'll get to visit nearly 5,000 animals from all over the world. At the Minnesota Zoo, you'll connect with some of the most fascinating animals on the planet.

The Medtronic Minnesota Trail showcases the wide variety of animals that call Minnesota home. You get to see animals like raccoons, coyotes, and gray wolves. You'll get a chance to see other interesting little critters like turtles, frogs, and salamanders. This attraction takes guests through 15 wildlife exhibits. The trail also includes a beaver pond and a walkalong that has a bird-watching perch.

The Northern Trail contains more exotic animals such as the Amur tiger, leopard, Goitered gazelle, and so much more. This trail is three-quarters of a mile long and gets you up close to these unique animals.

Tropics Trail is an indoor walking trail featuring animals that can only be found in the tropics. Some of the fantastic creatures you'll encounter on the Tropic Trail are the red river hog, Asian small-clawed otter, and the dwarf crocodile, to name a few.

Discovery Bay is where you switch gears from land creatures and get a look at what lurks in the water. They have bats rays, sand tiger sharks, a Hawaiian monk seal, and swellshark. Here, you'll also have an opportunity to touch some of the sharks and rays while they glide through the water.

The Russian Grizzly Coast gives guests a chance to see animals that live around the Russian pacific coast like sea otters, grizzly bears, tigers, leopards, and wild boar. You'll also get to see their impressive enclosures that give you an idea of what it's like in the Russian far east.

Wells Fargo Family Farm is a place for people of all ages to interact with the animals a little more closely. Here, you'll get a chance to pet goats, sheep, pigs, cows, chickens, and horses. You'll even get an opportunity to see staff milk the cow.
